FREE TIPS: GENERAL FORMAT

All CV's must include the following sections in order for the recruiter to have a clear idea of the candidate's past accomplishments. It is the aim of the jobseeker to write a CV that is simple, easy to read, clearly focused and presentable. Avoid using ‘I'. Use headings, short sentences or bullet points to get only the most relevant information across. Most importantly be as honest and accurate as possible to create a powerful first impression on the recruiter.

Section A – Personal Details

  • Use your full name as the heading on your CV
  • Provide full contact details including post addresses and email addresses
  • Provide international dialing codes along with residence, office and mobile numbers.
  • Provide details that help in securing employments including driving license, languages etc.

Section B - Education, training and other qualifications

  • List in reverse chronological order starting with most recent qualifications
  • Include names of degrees, specializations, years of graduation and names of the educational institutes attended
  • List details of certifications/any trainings attended along with details of organizations you might have membership with including issue and expiry dates

Section C - Employment History

  • List all employment with the most recent job first.
  • Include the name of organization, dates of employment and job titles
  • State a brief statement of your achievements and objectives
  • In the form of bullet points list your responsibilities and achievements resulting from these responsibilities

Section D - Addition Information

  • Tell the employer something about your hobbies or skills like computer skills

Section E - References

  • Not required. Only enclose them if specifically requested for.
